Open Enrollment Dates for 2027 Coverage

The key federal Marketplace dates and why you should check your state exchange.

HealthCare.gov says Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage begins November 1, 2026. Under the federal Marketplace schedule, it generally continues through January 15, 2027. The deadline that applies to a particular state-based Marketplace can differ, so confirm the current calendar for your state.

Federal Marketplace dates

  • November 1, 2026: Open Enrollment begins for 2027 coverage.
  • December 15, 2026: Generally the last day to enroll or change plans for coverage starting January 1, 2027.
  • January 15, 2027: Generally the final day of the federal Marketplace Open Enrollment period.
  • February 1, 2027: Coverage generally begins for plans selected during the later federal Marketplace window, subject to applicable requirements and first-premium payment.

State-based Marketplaces may have different deadlines or additional rules. A deadline is not a guarantee that an application is complete or that coverage is active.

Prepare before you compare

Check your current plan's renewal notice, update household and income information, and compare provider networks and prescription coverage. If you use financial assistance, review the information that will be used for the new year. Confirm the final effective date and pay your first premium directly to the insurer if required.
